A native of the Bay Area,Max Marmer is a co-founder of the Startup Genome. He began doing research on how to make entrepreneurship more scientific when he realized the high failure rate of startups was one of the biggest inhibitors to accelerating the global pace of innovation and economic growth. In January 2011 he dropped out of Stanford to start
the Startup Genome and apply his research to creating a scalable solution to accelerating businesses across the world. The company now serves tens of thousands of businesses and is backed by prominent investors. Since its inception Startup Genome has released a number of well regarded reports on the startup lifecycle, success & failure of startups and startup ecosystems that have been adopted into the curriculum of more than 100 universities worldwide. In late 2011 they released the Startup Compass which is automating much of what large companies use expensive in-house analysts for in order to enable the long tail of small and medium sized businesses to leverage this massive competitive advantage. The Startup Compass is a dashboard that helps companies allocate their resources by a) Recommending relevant KPIs b) Benchmarking KPIs against tens of thousands similar businesses and c) Providing recommendations on how to improve those KPIs. When Max isnt riding the entrepreneurial roller coaster, he enjoys writing, intense work outs, meditating and studying systems theory, psychology and philosophy.
