Mr. Murphy joined Siluria in September of 2012 as our Vice President of Legal Affairs and Intellectual Property. He is responsible for managing the legal functions for the company as well as planning and implementing company intellectual property strategy. Mr. Murphy has spent the past twenty years counseling and leading the legal operations of technology companies through all aspects of their growth from start-up to commercialization, public offerings, and international expansion.
He has extensive experience in both private and public corporate financing, complex strategic and commercial transactions, intellectual property strategy and litigation, and corporate governance.
Prior to joining Siluria, Mr. Murphy was Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Pacific Biosciences, a third generation nucleic acid sequencing company that developed and commercialized a single molecule real time DNA sequencing technology.
Prior to that he was Vice President, Legal Affairs for Nanosys, a nanomaterials technology development company. Before Nanosys, Mr. Murphy was Vice President of Intellectual Property at Caliper Technologies, a microfluidic products company (now a division of Perkin Elmer, Inc.).
