Lonny is the inventor of the Doyle Rotary Engine. He started tinkering with the idea of a better engine back in 1985 and has stuck with it ever since. His wide array of skills and knowledge peg him as a perfect candidate for inventing and prototyping. He started working with his hands and machining when he was just a kid.
Since the age of 9 he
has been working with automotive parts in some form or fashion. In high school he furthered his machining skills on a CNC Bridgeport mill and got a job at a Volkswagen machine shop after graduation. He eventually got a job as a programmer and general machinist at a sheet metal shop.
His next job was at a racing engine shop machining, welding, porting heads and researching and developing advancements in cylinder head technologies. His 15 years at this shop gave him invaluable knowledge in ports and combustion processes.
In 2004, Lonny dove into self-employment when he started his own aircraft machine shop. Using 3D design software and CNC mills daily rapidly brought him to a new level of prototyping capabilities. Prototypes are now developed on the computer before he begins machining.
Lonny is the designer, head machinist and assembler of the Doyle Rotary. Performing so many duties by himself and in house makes the prototype process much cheaper and faster than with the companies that have to sub-out the various processes.
