John R. Tyson is the Chair of the Strategy and Acquisitions Committee (SAC) for the board of directors at Tyson Foods, Inc., one of the world’s largest food companies and a recognized leader in protein. Tyson Foods employs more than 130,000 team members globally and plays a significant role in advancing food security and responsible food
production.
John began his career as an investment banker at J.P. Morgan before going on to work as an investor in private equity and venture capital at several firms. From there, he moved to Tyson Foods, where he has worked in a variety of roles, gaining experience across investment, strategy and operations. Some of these roles include Chief Sustainability Officer, Chief Financial Officer and President of Tyson Ventures — the investment arm of Tyson Foods.
Born and raised in Arkansas, John represents the fourth generation of family leadership since his great-grandfather, John W. Tyson, founded the company in 1935. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and later received his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. Throughout his tenure at Tyson Foods, John has been committed to advancing innovation across the food industry and supporting the development of more sustainable, resilient supply chains.
John is also active in civic and cultural organizations. He serves as a board member of the Arkansas Cinema Society and is affiliated with the World Economic Forum and the Council on Foreign Relations. His involvement reflects a broader interest in global dialogue and cultural engagement.
