Dawn is responsible for developing and managing Vittana’s portfolio of student micro-loan partnerships in Southeast Asia.
Previously, Dawn helped start a nonprofit organization called Philanthropedia, which was the first organization that identified high-impact nonprofits in a scalable manner. The method was crowd-sourcing expert opinions.
Philanthropedia was initially funded by Hewlett Foundation, one of the largest foundations in the world, and then later was acquired by GuideStar, the leading nonprofit data provider in the U.S. Within 2 years of operation, Dawn as Manager of Philanthropedia Research, identified over 200 top nonprofits in 27 social causes, surveying 2000+ experts. Later, Dawn switched to microfinance in Feb 2012, and interned at the leading microfinance commercial bank in China called Baoshang Bank, where she shadowed loan officers, and also interned at PlaNet Finance China, a nonprofit organization with headquarters in Paris that provides technical assistance to banks and microfinance institutions.
