Alex Alpert is an entrepreneur and innovator. He founded Crater, a company that is pioneering video estimate solutions for moving companies worldwide. Fueled by his vision and motivated by new opportunities, he aims to continue to influence the future of the relocation industry by making moving a simple and convenient experience for everyone.
Alex’s career in the moving business began in the driver’s seat, but he quickly rose through the ranks and earned a “white glove” service reputation. He learned early on how important it is to combine excellent service with an innovative approach to build relationships and customer loyalty. That philosophy paid off, paving the way for working with clients such as the National Park Service, Verizon, John Mayer, Kara DioGuardi, ATO and Atlantic Records.
Having established himself in a highly competitive industry, he moved on to start an international moving business in 2004, called Move On Up. The business enjoyed much success, including being awarded multiple government contracts and the $16.3 million renovation of Federal Hall.
From there Alex moved to Wheaton World Wide Moving/Bekins Van Lines, where he was recognized as the company’s No. 1 COD Salesperson within the first 3 months after signing the largest account in the industry and winning the CARTUS Gold Service Award. He was also presented with the Meritorious Service Award for his dedicated service and professionalism to the Worldwide ERC and global mobility community.
Alex enjoys being a member of and contributing to the mobility industry and startup communities. He established the young professional group, YP40 for the Worldwide ERC, that facilitates the recruitment of new talent and pushed the mobility industry to evolve. In addition, Alex is an active Board Member of SoCo Nexus, helping enable and accelerate the success of homegrown startups within a dynamic and sustainable environment. He and his wife Daniela are the hosts SoCo Nexus Startup Jam project which has become a local success story in Sonoma County for up and coming entrepreneurs.
Currently, Alex is the CEO of Crater, a company he founded alongside a team of mobility and startup pioneers. The company introduced its product Surveybot in March 2015. Today, 200+ moving companies around the world use SurveyBot. This rapid adoption has allowed Crater to position itself as the market leader in video estimate solutions.
Alex’s career is the result of alignment and perseverance. As a logistics professional in the global mobility industry, he remains passionate and solution-focused, while advocating for positive change by bringing fresh ideas to the conversation.
Open to an opportunity, seizing each moment, and unafraid to take risks. That is how Alex lives his life and how he runs his business.
