Trunking operator WOM S.A., formerly Nextel Chile, present in the country since 2000, offers fully integrated wireless communications that include digital cellular voice, data and wireless internet access. The company has 60MHz of AWS spectrum and over 60 sales points to serve its 260,000 clients along the country. In 2014, an international
consortium formed by Argentine media group Grupo Veintitrés, UK investment fund ISM Capital and US fund Optimum Advisors acquired the company from its former controller, US-based NII Holdings. Five months later, Nextel Chile was sold to European telecom investment company Novator, which re-launched the firm in 2015 under the brand name WOM. The company offers mobile services through 2G, 3G and 4G technology in the country's main cities.
