Yi-Kai Su is the MSAT Scientist I at CCRM. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and National Chung Hsing University.
Yi-Kai Su has more than eight years experience in both bioprocess engineering and chromatography analyses including HPLC and GC for analyzing fermentation products and byproducts. He received his BS and MS degree in
environmental engineering focused on biological treatment process. He received his PhD in biological system engineering at UW-Madison where he is specialized in evolutionary engineering for strain development and lignocellulosic fermentation by native xylose-fermenting yeasts. He uses Design Of Experiment (DOE) approaches such as multiple-variant, response surface methodology, Box-Behnken design, of physiological variables combined with genetic modification and selection in identifying strains optimal for process implementation. He is also familiar with wastewater treatment design, anaerobic/aerobic digesters, photo-fermentation, and microbial fuel cells, which enables Xylome to consider a comprehensive approach in reclaiming value from process streams.
