Mr. Y C Nanda is an alumnus of Delhi School of Economics. After an initial career with the State Bank of India and the Reserve Bank of India, Mr. Nanda joined NABARD (India’s National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) when it was being formed in 1983. He was appointed Managing Director of NABARD in 1998 and went on to become the Chairman
in 2000.
After retirement, acknowledging his expertise, Mr. Nanda was appointed a full-time member of the National Commission of Farmers by the Government of India.
Mr. Nanda has worked as a consultant to a number of international organizations like IFAD, UNOPS, GTZ and FAO.
He has served on a number of Government and RBI led Committees as Chairman/member.
He was also the Chairman of the Working Group on Agriculture Credit and Cooperatives for the 11th Five Year Plan.
Currently, Mr.Nanda is the Chairman of Agriculture Finance Corporation. He has also been involved with a number of microfinance institutions, rural development agencies, management institutes as Director/Trustee.
