Bill is a world authority on informatic techniques and practices, with more than 150 papers in areas as diverse as computational biology and cosmology. He is the co-author of the definitive book on computational mathematics: Numerical Recipes.
He is the President-Elect of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
He holds the
e Warren J. and Viola M. Raymer Chair in Computer Sciences and Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin.
He is also a senior fellow (emeritus) at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he was previously the Deputy Director for Science and Technology.
Bill received his PhD in Physics at Caltech in 1972.
