William is an alternative Asset Investment Specialist who has spent almost his entire career involved with financial development of companies and projects in developing economies. He originally specialised in project finance at Lazard Brothers, following which he spent 18 years in various senior positions in the Lloyds Bank group based in London,
Hong Kong and Portugal.
Since 1991 he has served in a wide range of non-executive positions as an independent director or adviser based in London.
William Knight is Chairman of the JP Morgan Chinese Investment Trust, Myanmar Investments International Ltd and three Chinese joint venture companies : MCS (HK) Ltd, Henry Cotton's (Greater China) Ltd and Marina Yachting (Hong Kong) Ltd. He also serves on the boards of the GNet Group Plc, Guardian Ceylon Investment Trust Plc and Smith Tan Asia Phoenix Fund Ltd. His previous company board experience has encompassed early stage biotechnology investing in advanced economies and investment funds for India, Korea, Mauritius, Portugal, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam.
William's advisory assignments have included: the Asian Development Bank, Campbell- Lutyens, the government of Mauritius, the British Government Know-How fund, Aureos Capital, CDC and Clearwater Capital; (investors in and restructuring specialists of Asian debt). He is a regular member of City of London missions around the globe and is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of World Traders, where he is involved in Commonwealth initiatives.
