William L. Chenevich has served as a director since the Company's founding in April 1995 and served as Lead Independent Director from February 2009 to July 2015. Mr. Chenevich served as Vice Chairman of Technology and Operations for U.S. Bancorp, a financial holding company, from February 2001 to July 2010.
He served as Vice Chairman of
Technology and Operations Services of Firstar Corporation, a financial services company, from 1999 until its merger with U.S. Bancorp in February 2001. Prior thereto, he was Group Executive Vice President of VISA International, a financial services company, from 1994 to 1999. Mr. Chenevich holds a B.B.A. degree in Business from the City College of New York and an M.B.A. degree in Management from the City University of New York.
Mr. Chenevich is a business executive with significant expertise in technology and operations developed over more than twenty years in the financial services industry. Mr. Chenevich's expertise in technology and operations is directly relevant to the products and services of the Company's businesses. Mr. Chenevich's experience in the financial services industry is also relevant as that industry is an important target industry for the Company's products and services.
Mr. Chenevich's service on several other boards of directors over his career, and his service on our Board since the Company's founding, have provided him with significant board-level experience, as well as valuable insight and institutional knowledge of the Company's history and development. Mr. Chenevich's financial and accounting skills qualify him as an audit committee financial expert.
His experience on our Audit Committee and the audit committee of another company are also valuable to the Company. In addition, Mr. Chenevich has significant executive-level experience as a management committee member at leading financial institutions for more than twenty years, including experience in mergers and acquisitions transactions. Mr. Chenevich also has significant international business experience from his time as Group Executive Vice President of VISA International.
