William Arbaugh develops methods and techniques to combat the increasing malware problem. In 2012, he retired from the computer science department of the University of Mary Land College Park, after serving the university for a time period of twelve years. Previously, he worked at the U.S. Department of Defense for sixteen years. During his time at
the U.S. Department of Defense, he held several leadership positions in diverse areas ranging from tactical communications to advanced research.
In 2004, Arbaugh founded Komoku, a company that offers advanced rootkit detection. He received a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy, a master’s degree from Columbia University, and a PhD in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania.
