Dr. Bussmann has more than 25 years of experience in the chemical and specialty chemical industries holding several key leadership positions throughout his career. Dr. Bussmann’s chemical experiences include plant operations and design and engineering responsibilities that enhance production and the financial performance of chemical assets. At
GlycosBio he is responsible for leading the construction and production planning for the Company’s bio-refinery in Malaysia.
Prior to joining GlycosBio, Dr. Bussmann was Director of European Operations for Troy Chemical Europe B.V., a global provider of additives and biocides to the paint, coatings and wood preservation industries. While at Troy Chemical, Dr. Bussmann managed developing strategies and operational plans to reorganize logistics and negotiate supply agreements, while driving plant financial and process improvements. Before his role at Troy Chemical, Dr. Bussmann held several production and Senior Management positions for Bayer AG, a German chemical and the world’s third largest pharmaceutical company.
Dr. Bussmann received an MSc in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and earned a Ph.D in Organic Chemistry from the University of Paderborn in Germany. In addition, Dr. Bussmann received executive training at the Sloan School of Management at MIT in Cambridge, MA.
