Vinatha Reddy, who is a graduate in Arts, has been involved in the field of development since 1995. Prior to this, being a Montessori-trained teacher she was working with Taraporewalla AMI House of Children in Hyderabad. After moving to Bangalore, she started a rural-based Montessori school called Gurukul.
In 1999 Vinatha founded Grameen Koota,
inspired by the book Give Us Credit by Alex Counts which is a story of Grameen Bank, Bangladesh and Prof. Yunus. She has nurtured Grameen Koota from a project under a not-for-profit entity into a division of Grameen Financial Services Pvt Ltd (GFSPL), a Non-Banking Finance Company (NBFC) which is licensed and regulated by Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Currently she is serving as the Chairperson of GFSPL, Navya Disha - an NGO and GK Development Trust. She is also the Managing Trustee of T. Muniswamappa Trust which runs Gurukul – A Montessori, primary & high school & Grama- Swabhimana – A solid waste management project.
Vinatha remains committed to making GFSPL, a financially sustainable institution, while reaching out to the poorest sections of society, especially empowering women and ensuring a measurable impact on poverty.
