Vern Fleming is Director, Indirect Sourcing at Performance Food Group (PFG) in Richmond, Virginia. He is responsible for sourcing and managing the indirect spend for goods and services for PFG, including its 70-plus locations across the continental US. Vern manages the development and implementation of procurement policies and best practices for
his indirect team. He ensures best practices are identified and reapplied to drive standardization across the enterprise. Vern’s duties include overseeing energy management, fuel sourcing, and refrigeration system maintenance programs at PFG.
Vern joined PFG in October 2013 with 30 years of procurement experience, working at WestRock-formerly MeadWestvaco, J.M. Smucker and Procter & Gamble.
Vern served his country as an Army Air Defense Artillery Officer in Korea, California and Texas. He retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Vern has an MBA from the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and a B.A. from Hampton University in Hampton, VA.
Vern serves on the Board of Directors of the Goochland County Historical Society and Shady Grove Rosenwald School in Virginia. He is a former Executive Board Member of the Maryland/DC Minority Supplier Development Council, Boy Scouts District Chairman and Big Brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He is deacon at his church and a life time member of the NAACP and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
