Umesh Krishnappa is a Mechanical Engineer with MBA in Operations from Symbiosis University (Pune) and has more than 24+ years of experience in the Industry ranging from automotive and engineering design services to the Electronics Industry.
Umesh started off his career as an R&D Engineer in 1988. He was the testing and project coordinator
for the hugely successful Hero Honda bike - the 'CD 100 SS'. This was his start into the 'Product Creation Process'.
He participated in the first 'CMVR Program' in 1991 and that gave him the opportunity to work very closely with agencies like ARAI and VRDE. Umesh moved to Philips where he worked for more than 9 years handling the Quality and Product Creation portfolio and then Operations. During his tenure, he was one of the Top 20 performers and was declared as "Customer Champion" by the then Global President of Philips. He has also been the Global Auditor for Philips Process and Business Excellence.
At Harita TVS Technologies (an Engineering Design Solution organisation catering to global automotive customers) he was instrumental in 3x revenue improvement and substantial quality improvement in delivery as the Global Delivery Head and later CTO.
In Tata Sasken Automotive Electronics, he was Vice President - Operations where he managed the Instrument Cluster and Telematics project for REVA's new car.
He moved to Mahindra REVA Electric Vehicle Company in May 2009 and has been managing the Program and Process Management. In addition, he is also handling Validation, PED and Quality Functions. 'Reva Car Creation Process - RCCP' was initiated and implemented by Umesh & the team organisation for the new car programs (from concept to the realisation phase).
Umesh was also instrumental in leading the team to build the New Mahindra Reva IGBC Certified Green Plant. Umesh has written several technical papers and has been a member of various technical forums like IEC TC 65 / ETD 32, ASQ, SAE, ASQ etc. He has been a corporate faculty in training on key tools for Product Creation. In addition, Umesh contributes management articles to leading newspapers.
