John A. (Tony) Downer, joined the Oak team as Director-Private Equity in 2003 following a fourteen-year career as a Managing Director at Cornerstone Equity Investors, a middle-market private equity firm with over $1.2 billion under management.
At Cornerstone, Tony led the management buyout of a number of technology and tech-related companies
and acted as the lead investor for numerous later-stage expansion financings. Prior to Cornerstone, Tony worked at the private equity groups at T. Rowe Price Associates and the Harvard Management Company. Tony currently serves as an Oak director of Enterprise Sourcing Services, Geotrace, and LumaSense. He is currently a Trustee of Phillips Exeter Academy and formerly a director of SecureWorks. He earned his BA, JD, and MBA from Harvard University.
