Tom lives, sleeps, breathes and eats (on the odd occasion when he leaves his laptop to eat) technology - specifically, disruptive technology businesses. Tom comes from two worlds – the mostly theoretical computer science world developing cutting edge software, and the commercial world, where he loves testing the commercial applications of new
software and technologies.
On the computer science side, Tom’s expertise lies in developing “intelligent” web systems such as search engines, autonomous ranking software and recommendation engines. In addition to this, Tom has developed and maintained “full-stack” web applications including e-commerce websites and complex database-driven consumer apps.
As for the commercial aspect, Tom spent 2 years working in institutional consulting at one of Australia’s “Big Four” banks where he helped companies ranging from ASX top 20 members to family owned manufacturing companies, not-for-profits and everything in between transform their financial operations to improve working capital, cash flow and ultimately profitability.
Tom lives in Melbourne (the Australian one, not Florida) and is presently finishing off a M.Sc. (Comp. Science). He also holds a B.Bus (Eco) and did 3 years of Commerce/Arts studies at The University of Melbourne.
