Tom Bates has 20 years experience launching and running digital media companies. And currently is an entrepreneur-in-residence at Georgia Tech's ATDC, one of the longest running and most successful technology incubators in the country.
He founded and grew Kudzu.com into a website that helps 20 million homeowners a year plan projects, solve problems – and choose highly rated contractors. Kudzu also powered the business directory on 100 major media websites including HGTV.com and DIYnetwork.com.
Previously, he ran the daily operation of Cox Interactive Media's network of 35 city sites -- as well as 25 websites for Cox's cable, broadcast TV and newspaper divisions. Later, joined the Cox Enterprises corporate development team focused on creating new businesses.
Bates was a co-founder and the SVP/Ad Sales of the New Century Network -- one of the internet's first advertising networks, consisting of 130 newspaper websites in the USA's top 50 markets.
He also helped launch USA TODAY's International Edition, sold in 90+ countries. As Managing Director/Europe & Asia, he had P&L responsibility for all operations outside the USA.
