As the leader of NRG's solar business, Tom is a key reason that NRG Solar is now one of the largest owners and operators of solar in the country. He transitioned NRG from a start-up in large-scale solar development into a comprehensive and diverse company that is actively working in all areas of large-scale and distributed solar.
Tom has
more than 25 years of experience, including 15 years living in Asia, working on development, financing, M&A, and P&L management of both large-scale solar and more conventional power generation projects. During his NRG career he has also served as Regional President, West, leading efforts to repower California's conventional power plants. Before coming to NRG, he was Executive Vice President of Global Development at BrightSource Energy Inc., and held senior management positions with InterGen and Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation.
In the highly competitive solar business, Tom keeps his edge by participating in endurance events and anything else his three children challenge him to do. Tom holds a bachelor's degree and an MBA degree, both from the University of Arizona. He also serves on the board of advisors for the University of Arizona's College of Engineering.
