Thomas Neyhart is the CEO of PosiGen, a provider of energy-efficient solutions for low-to-moderate-income homeowners. You can see his experience and values reflected in a number of ways across the company. Newhart has long promoted equality and he's approached business from a very different standpoint than many of his counterparts. In 2014, he
was named as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs by Goldman Sachs.
The PosiGen CEO has long understood the value of products like solar PVs. These solutions allow people to take advantage of our natural resources and reduce their monthly utility bills. By cutting down on both cost and energy consumption, Neyhart has built a successful business and helped more than 10,000 families lead better lives.
PosiGen was founded in 2011 to make a financial impact on the lives of its customers. Across New Jersey, Florida, Connecticut, and Louisiana, the company has introduced low-cost solutions that save homeowners money every year. Under Thomas Neyhart's leadership, the company was named to Inc. 5000's Fastest-Growing Private Companies List for three years running. PosiGen raised $125 million of equity and $275 million of tax equity. The company's credit lines total more than $150 million.
PosiGen has received numerous recognitions since its founding with the help of Thomas Neyhart's vision. It won the Patriotic Employer Award from the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and a variety of awards from the US Department of Energy. In 2015, Business Insider named it as one of the top 27 Coolest New Businesses in New Orleans. It's also been named Best of Home Solar Installer multiple times.
After assuming the PosiGen CEO position, Thomas Neyhart would spearhead a partnership with Connecticut Green Bank. This collaboration was designed to bring energy-efficient solutions to low-income communities in the state. Compared to similar programs in more affluent communities, his efforts managed to distribute resources evenly across the neighborhoods he served.
Before his start in energy efficiency, Neyhart was in the business of rentals. He served as the president of the Louisiana Rental Dealers Association for five years and was named Rental Dealer of the Year by APRO. He was named as a Top 10 Franchisee of the Year for eight years out of his nine years in the business.
Today, Thomas Neyhart continues to learn as much as he can about his industry. He's also actively involved in a number of organizations related to his field. He serves as a member of NREL’s Solar Futures Study Technical Review Panel and the Energy Sector Team of the City of New Orleans’ Office of Economic Development. He's an invited speaker at a number of forums for renewable energy and construction and a sustaining member of the Society of American Military Engineers.
