Thomas (TJ) is a Managing Director in the Merchant Banking Division (MBD) of Goldman Sachs and Global Head of the division’s private equity activities in the healthcare sector. TJ first joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst in MBD in 1997, working in the New York, London and Milan offices. He rejoined the firm as an associate in 2004 after co-founding
and serving as Chief Executive Officer of a software services business in Italy and graduating from business school. TJ became a Vice President in 2006 and was named Managing Director in 2009.
In addition to serving on the Board of Directors of T2 Biosystems, TJ serves on the boards of Assuramed, Inc., a chronic care-focused medical supplies distribution business; Drayer Physical Therapy Institute, LLC, a leading provider of outpatient physical therapy services; iHealth Technologies, a claims review and analytics business; and KAR Auction Services, Inc., a NYSE-listed used and salvage vehicle auction business. He has also led the firm’s current investments in Globus Medical, Inc., a NYSE-listed spine medtech business and Press Ganey, Inc., a healthcare analytics business.
TJ earned a B.A. from Harvard College in 1997 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 2004.
