Mr. Zhang has more than 20 years of experience in travel and lodging industry. Since 2005, Mr. Zhang has been the President and CEO for HUBS1. Prior to founding HUBS1, Mr. Zhang was Special Assistant to the Chairman, CEO and Managing Director of the Thayer Group, one of the largest private equity firms in the US. He was responsible for leading the
company's new initiatives and acquisition strategies for Thayer Fund IV. Before that, he was Director of Finance and Corporate Strategy for Thayer portfolio hotels in the US, responsible for strategic planning and corporate finance for more than four billion real estate assets. He was also responsible for the asset management of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company after Thayer's acquisition of the company with the Marriott. Prior to joining the Thayer Group, Mr. Zhang held various hotel executive positions at major international hotel chains including Accor, Marriott, and Hilton both in China and the US.
For his extraordinary contributions to the China hotel industry, Mr. Zhang was awarded the Most Influential CEO for China Hotel Online Distribution in 2008 by the China Hotel Association. He was also recognized as one of China's Top 10 Distinguished CEO during the fourth China CEO Summit Forum 2010 by China Times and China CEO Club. During the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China in 2009, Mr. Zhang was recognized as an Outstanding Individual in China Daily's “60 Years, 60 People, 60 Stories” Special Edition that showcases 60 outstanding individuals in different industries that made distinguished contribution to the development of China.
Mr. Zhang is an industry mentor for Cornell Hotel School entrepreneurial program graduate students and a guest speaker for online marketing and distribution classes. Mr. Zhang is also a frequent speaker at the Swiss Les Roche International Hotel Management School. In 2001, Mr. Zhang was awarded Top Financial Executives in the US by the US CFO&CONTROLLER magazine. Mr. Zhang graduated from the School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University and holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School.
