Ted Johnson has over 20 years of experience developing or managing the development of PC-based applications. He recently retired from Microsoft Corporation where he held the position of Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Business Tools Division, which included the Microsoft Office System products Project, Visio, and Publisher and accounted for
over $900 million of revenue in the fiscal year ended June 2003. Johnson had joined Microsoft in January 2000 as part of its acquisition of Visio Corporation, which he co-founded in 1990.
Throughout Visio’s 10-year existence, Johnson headed product development and served as a member on its Board of Directors. Prior to founding Visio, Johnson worked at Aldus Corporation where he oversaw the development of PageMaker for Windows among other products. He began his computing career in the Boston area working at two Route 128 startups. Johnson graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. In 1999, the University named him Computer Science and Engineering Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. Johnson also serves on the Board of Trustees of Seattle Children’s Hospital Foundation.
