Although Susie Vanner may be best remembered as a Bond girl – she appeared in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ with Roger Moore in 1977 – singing is her first love.
Susie recorded six tracks for RCA Records at the beginning of her career. The track titled ‘Don’t Pity Me” is now considered a Northern Soul classic, with copies of one of those early 7” vinyl
recordings selling for around £1,000 to collectors.
Susie has since returned to the music industry with the recent release of her album ‘In These Shoes’. The album was recorded at Abbey Road and British Grove Studios and was produced by Grammy and Emmy award winner Kipper Eldridge, who also works with Sting. The album features tracks including ‘Cry Me a River’ and ‘Every Breath You Take’.
As well as starring in the 1977 Bond film, Susie has also appeared in movies including ‘Nighthawks’ with Sylvester Stallone, ‘A Man Called Intrepid’ with David Niven, ‘Queenie’ with Kirk Douglas, and ‘Return To Waterloo’, which was written and directed by Ray Davies from the Kinks. The actress and singer also had a lead role in the BBC’s ‘Kiss the Girls and Make Them Cry’, as well as parts in ‘Minder’ and ‘Tales of the Unexpected’.
For Susie, a healthy lifestyle is paramount; as well as avoiding alcohol and sugar in her diet, she also enjoys being physically active. She loves to practice yoga and power walks every day. She is passionate about dancing too, as can be seen on the star’s Instagram account and in the music videos on her YouTube Channel.
