Stu is a senior vice president and business leader for our Transportation business line. He is responsible for managing Stantec’s road, bridge, transit, rail and non-motorized transportation activities throughout North America.
Stu’s experience in the transportation industry covers the range of a project’s life, from planning through
construction. He has been involved in hundreds of projects, delivered through a variety of methods, from public private partnerships, to design-build, to conventional design-bid-build. Stu is known for his ability to manage complicated projects so that they meet the rigorous schedules established by the public/private entity funding the project. Stu served as overall lead on the transportation improvements associated with the Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn, New York, for developer Forest City Ratner and is technical lead for a new tunnel under Hwy 401/409 in Toronto, Ontario, for Metrolinx.
In recent years, Stu has focused on growing Stantec’s involvement and investment in emerging technologies and trends. As an Envision Sustainable Professional (ENV SP), Stu recognizes the importance of designing infrastructure solutions that embrace sustainability, like building to accommodate connected or autonomous vehicles that are soon to be a widespread reality for travelers across North America.
A leader in the industry, Stu has served in multiple professional organizations, speaking at numerous professional events, and being published in several industry publications. Stu has a bachelor or civil engineering from Lehigh University and a master of science in civil engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
