Steve is Co-Founder, Board Member, and Chief Executive Officer of Statt, a venture-backed, Generative AI SaaS platform that utilizes a proprietary dataset built from 15,000 organizations around the world, as well as sources across the U.S. government, to automate public policy and regulatory intelligence, research, and analysis for global
corporations, lobbying, communications, consulting and law firms, industry associations and advocacy organizations, and financial institutions.
He is also a Member of the Board of Arctaris Impact Investors, a leading national impact-oriented Opportunity Zones investment firm, as well as the Board of LifeCare Assurance, a leader in long-term care insurance.
Steve was previously the Co-Founder and CEO of the Economic Innovation Group, a bipartisan economic policy ideas and advocacy organization, which was the architect for the $100B Qualified Opportunity Zones tax program, one of the largest community development initiatives in U.S. history.
Earlier in his career, Steve received multiple presidential appointments in the Obama-Biden Administration, including as Director of International Economics for the National Security Council and National Economic Council and Deputy Associate Counsel for the White House. He also served as Chief of Staff for the U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service and Special Advisor to the U.S. International Trade Administration.
Steve previously practiced law as an investigative attorney, including in the U.S. Congress as Majority Counsel to the U.S. House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee, where he led congressional hearings on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the use of performance enhancing drugs in Major League Baseball, as well as in the Justice Department as Trial Attorney in the Criminal Division and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of Columbia.
Steve received his B.A. and M.A., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University, J.D. from Columbia Law School, and LL.M., with highest honors, from the London School of Economics and Political Science. He was a longtime Adjunct Professor in the Master’s Program for the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
