A longtime South Carolina resident, attorney Stephen Krzyston holds a bachelor of science in political science from the College of Charleston and a juris doctor from the Charleston School of Law. In preparation for his legal career, Stephen Krzyston interned with the District of Columbia Public Defender Service and clerked in the law office of
Alexandria, Virginia attorney Richard D. Carter. In South Carolina, he served as a law clerk with the Charleston County Public Defender and the Commission on Indigent Defense Capital Trial Division.
Mr. Krzyston went on to establish himself as an assistant public defender in Richland County, South Carolina and acquired state certification from the South Carolina Supreme Court to serve as lead defense counsel in death penalty cases. He has also earned separate certifications in forensics, interrogation, and other legal skills.
These days, Stephen Krzyston practices at the Columbia, South Carolina, law firm of Cavanaugh & Thickens. To augment his professional work, he holds active membership in several legal organizations, including the Richland County Bar Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
