Stephen Combs has over twenty-five years’ of experience recruiting high technology executives and professionals for both industry leading product companies and IT organizations.
Prior to joining Symphony Technology Group in 2000, Mr. Combs founded and ran The StratfordGroup Venture Practice (formerly Juntunen·Combs·Poirier) as an independent
business unit within the Spherion group of companies. The Venture Practice focused on executive search engagements for application and infrastructure software companies located predominantly on the West Coast. In January 1992, Combs wrote the business plan and founded Juntunen·Combs·Poirier, acting as Vice President and Managing Partner.
From 1984 to 1985, he was Branch Manager for the MIS search practice of the Computer Resources Group in San Francisco.
Mr. Combs began his career as a programmer for the Vogelback Computer Center at Northwestern University.
Throughout his search career, Stephen has built and sustained major account relationships with Information Resources (IRI), Netscape Communications, VeriSign, Inc., Apple Computer, Microsoft, Motorola, RSA Data Security, Cadence Design Systems, Borland International and many other high technology companies.
Stephen has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University and earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
He became a member of the California State Bar Association in 1982.
He is a Limited Partner in the following venture capital funds: Bessemer Venture Partners, Bay Partners, and Onset Ventures.
Stephen rides his bike to raise money for Charity; those beneficiaries include the SF AIDS Foundation and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
He also serves on the Leadership Committee of Temple Emanu-El in San Francisco.
