Kothrade has worked with BASF since 1995. Most recently, he headed Plant Operations, Engineering & Infrastructure at BASF in Antwerp, Belgium. Both the Antwerp site and BASF-YPC in Nanjing are "Verbund" sites, a German term referring to a large-scale, highly-integrated chemical production complex. BASF operates a total of six Verbund
sites among its 380 production sites worldwide.
Kothrade also has held roles including Managing Director of BASF in Hungary and Southeast Europe; and global Director of Procurement for BASF Inorganic and Specialty Chemicals. He previously worked with the Strategic Planning department, and in R&D and production roles.
