Sonya Kim is the Strategic Advisor at Pilatus Capital. As a serial entrepreneur for 5 early-stage startups, Dr.Kim was the chief “everything” officer, defining product roadmap, go-to-market strategy, and building relationships with CXOs of strategic partners(e.g. healthcare payers and providers). She also worked with top technology providers in her
supply chain and influenced them to innovate their products to make her solution more user-friendly to consumers. At her most recent venture, she built and led a team of designers, developers, and VR therapists to pioneer a cutting-edge product using cloud-based technology. She successfully demonstrated positive health outcomes while reducing costs in the dual eligibility(Medicare and Medicaid) patient population by blending healthcare and advanced technology. Throughout her career, she has continued to practice medicine, giving her an insider's view of the healthcare industry’s unmet needs.
She’s a respected speaker in the AR/VR/MR industry and is considered a thought leader by publications such as NPR, The Economist, and Washington Post.
Dr. Kim started her career as a board-certified ER physician, during which time she treated over 40,000 patients. After over 6 years of intense ER work, she transitioned to the pharmaceutical industry to build partnerships and develop new business channels to launch a new GI drug. This position inspired her to grow her career further by getting the dual MBAs from Columbia Business School and U.C. Berkeley at Haas School of business. During her MBA, she was inspired by a serial entrepreneur and dedicated herself to founding companies that solve complex human problems; the main one being dementia and social isolation in the elderly population.
