Sonja has over 16 years of experience in Project Management, environmental management, engineering, planning, development and community consultation on major infrastructure and urban development projects. Sonja has a 1st Class Honours Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UTS, supplemented with post graduate learning in Project
Management and Environmental Management.
Sonja is currently Acting Project Director of NorthConnex, working for the NSW Government with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), in partnership with Transurban, to deliver a 9km tunnel linking the M1 with the M2. Sonja oversees all design, environment and communications for the RMS on the project, as well as administering the contract. Sonja has been in this role since October 2016. Prior to this she lived in Scotland working for the construction contractor on the largest road build contract in the UK, the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, as Sustainability Manager. Previous, Sonja was a key member of a small team that developed and lead the delivery of the Barangaroo precinct, as Project Manager for seven years with the Barangaroo Delivery Authority from 2008 to 2015. Before this, she worked in consulting firms including AECOM for five years.
