Sjerp Ysselstein has led a long and varied career in the American dairy industry. When he purchased his first small plot of land as a young man who had been raised around dairy cows his entire life, Sjerp and his wife did everything themselves to run their small operation. From milking their to building the facilities themselves, Sjerp poured his
heart into their small farm. Because of their savvy and recognition of the potential for raising cattle in the Midwest, their operation expanded very quickly and their hard work paid off. Running a successful operation was still hobbled, however, by the lack of processing facilities nearby for Sjerp and other local dairy farmers.
To address this need, Sjerp Ysselstein founded the Green Meadows Foods processing plan to prepare his own dairy products for the market. This endeavor grew rapidly, becoming the largest processing plant in the Midwest and servicing not only Sjerp's own milk but the products of many local dairies, boosting the Iowa economy and creating a more hospitable environment for aspiring local dairy farmers to move into the area.
Today, Sjerp owns and operates multiple facilities across the Mid and Southwest, with a presence in Iowa, California, Arizona, and New Mexico. His ranches raise cattle, run feeding operations, and continue to produce the highest quality dairy products. Driven by an unresting entrepreneurial spirit rooted in his Fresian ancestry, Sjerp Ysselstein is now expanding his ventures into the livestock import and export industry.
