Simon McLellan, Chief Engineer and Head of Research and Development for Global Eagle Entertainment’s Aviation Connectivity Division. Simon joined the connectivity division (previously Row 44) in 2008 to lead the development and integration effort to launch the first aeronautical satellite broadband connectivity system. Since that time he has lead
the exploration of new satellite communication technology and development of new antenna systems at GEE to improve performance and space segment efficiency.
Simon has more than 25 years of experience in Avionics, IFE, connectivity and satellite systems. He previously held leadership positions at Panasonic Avionics as Manager of Airline Systems working on the development and deployment of many leading edge Inflight Entertainment and connectivity systems, and in the UK for GEC Marconi / Plessey Avionics in development of the very first digitally distributed, In Seat IFE System. Simon received his education at Portsmouth University (UK) and Devry University in Long Beach CA, where he earned his Bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering and Technical Management.
