Simon Laker leads Consult Hyperion’s consulting practice across North America. He is a leading authority on the implementation of open payments systems in public transport. He worked with Transport for London and the Payment Brands to define operational and transaction models to support the use of payment cards. His work has subsequently been
adopted and deployed globally. Recently, he has helped transit authorities in Boston and New York to refine their requirements for a new ticketing service and select a vendor on behalf of the transit authority. Simon is a recognized expert in the design, implementation and operation of secure payment services. He has 16 years’ experience of designing and implementing EMV-enabled solutions, including the authoring of technical specifications and implementation guides for the Payment Brands and the certification of third party devices against those specifications.
