Simon Gibbs is responsible for business development and relationship management with key media partners in Europe and across the globe. This includes new content licensing and representation agreements as well as the company’s managed services technology platform.
Simon was the founder and Managing Director of BBC Motion Gallery, which, under
his leadership, grew from its launch in 2004 to become the world’s leading supplier of video clips to the B2B market. By the time he left in 2010, BBC Motion Gallery distributed video clips around the globe from some of the world’s leading video archives, such as CBS News, NHK (Japanese Broadcasting Corporation) and ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation), CCTV (Central China Television) as well as the BBC archive.
Simon started his career with Deloittes and then joined N. M. Rothschild & Sons in 1983 working on corporate advisory work in the UK and Singapore. In 1989 he left Rothschilds to manage several company turnarounds and launches including Gieves & Hawkes, One Word Radio and Chivers Audio, which publishes audio books. As CEO of Chivers Communications plc, he floated the business on the UK stock market in 1999 and then sold it to BBC Worldwide in 2001.
