Sara Horowitz is the founder and Executive Director of Freelancers Union. Sara has been widely recognized for her entrepreneurial efforts to create a new support system for independent workers. In 1999, Sara was honored with a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and the Schwab Foundation selected her to be one of its 100 Global
Leaders for Tomorrow at the 2002 World Economic Forum. In 2010, Crain's named her of one "25 People to Watch." Before founding Freelancers Union, Sara was a labor attorney in private practice and a union organizer with 1199, the National Health and Human Service Employees Union. She has a master's degree from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, a law degree cum laude from the SUNY Buffalo Law School and a B.S. from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
