Dr. Sameer Hasija is an Associate Professor of Technology and Operations Management at INSEAD. He is the Shell Fellow in Business and the Environment and Chair of INSEAD’s Technology and Operations Management area. He earned his PhD and MS from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester and his BTech from the Indian Institute of
Technology Madras. Sameer’s teaching focuses on using a process lens to understand new levers of innovation. Using a systematic analysis of processes within and across firm boundaries, he emphasises the role of process-based innovation in creating new business models and/or fresh competitive positioning for existing business models. Sameer conducts workshops for executives on understanding the latest developments in technology and their role in radically disrupting and/or transforming businesses. The overall theme of Sameer’s research is to use the tools of economic analysis to understand and enhance the design and management of business processes. His research application areas include R&D and technology management, healthcare and humanitarian operations, service and supply chain operations, and behavioral issues in operations management. Lately he has been exploring the role of digitization and other advanced technologies in creating innovative business models, disrupting traditional supply chain configurations, and creating new opportunities for firms. He serves as an associate editor for Information Systems Research and Production & Operations Management, and his research has been well awarded by the academic community. A mentor to INSEAD PhDs, Sameer’s students have won several awards for work co-authored with him.
