Roberto received the degree in Telecommunications Engineering by University of Deusto in 2003 and Master in Information Technologies and Communications in Mobile Networks by University of the Basque Country in 2007. In the last 2 years of his degree, he was awarded a scholarship for further training and supporting activities at Telecommunication
Laboratory of University of Deusto. Subsequently, in 2003, as a scholarship holder from Telefónica I+D, at Advanced Networks department, he did some research on QoS over heterogeneous networks and a new algorithm based on local preference on P2P networks. In 2005, he worked for Euskaltel at R&D department, where his research was focused on the development of an effective methodology to deployment of Wi-Fi network. Since 2007, he works for the Division ICT-European Software Institute of Tecnalia and has participated in European and Spanish research projects related to Broadband Networks. Between 2009 and 2013, he has specialized on FTTx technologies, concretely on the GPON protocol. Actually, he has been involved actively in the development and commercialization of GPON Doctor - First GPON analyzer in Europe.
