Born in Rome in 1960, Roberto Sergio is the Chief Executive Officer of RAI, the largest Italian cultural enterprise. Throughout his professional path, he has been a key figure in a long career in the telecommunications sector. Società Generale d’Informatica S.p.A. as Head of Parliamentary Relations, later continuing from 1997 at Lottomatica Italia Servizi. Over his four years at Lottomatica Italia Servizi (LIS), he held responsibilities across various areas, including External Relations and Institutional Relations, Communication and Advertising, Business Development, Marketing and Communication, and Commercial Management. In 2001, he first assumed the role of Communication and Image Director and then Vice General Director of Lottomatica S.p.A. (now IGT). From 2002 to 2004, he also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lottomatica Italia Servizi S.p.A. Roberto Sergio joined RAI in 2004 as Director of New Media. Three years later, he was appointed President of SIPRA (now RAI Pubblicità), also serving as a Board Member in RAI Net, RAI Click, and RAI Sat. In September 2012, he assumed the role of President of RAI Way. His journey at RAI continued, and in 2017, he became the Director of the Radio Department. In the same year, he joined the Board of Directors of TER - Tavolo Editori Radio, a position he held until May 2023. During those years, he was also a Board Member of PER - Player Editori Radio and RAI Com. In May 2023, the Italian Council of Ministers, upon the proposal of the Minister of Economy and Finance, appointed him as Chief Executive Officer of RAI. Additionally, Roberto Sergio retained the role of interim Director of the Radio Department. Throughout his career, he has been honored with the titles of Grand Officer of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and Commander of the Ecumenical Hospitaller Order - Knights of Malta.
