Robert Shoemaker has extensive bioinformatics, scientific, computer programming, and next generation molecular technologies experience and expertise relevant to Ignyta, including next generation sequencing (Illumina, Roche, and ABI), data analysis (ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and BS-Seq), analysis of genome-wide microarray and BeadChip data, statistical
analysis of biological systems, including dynamic Bayesian modeling, and proficiency in Perl, MySQL, MSSQL, and R, and familiarity with C++, C#, MATLAB, and Python.
Prior to joining Ignyta, from 2011 to 2012, Dr. Shoemaker was a Scientist at Illumina, where he managed computational resources for sequencing runs that released reagents to customers (20 TB of data per month).
Dr. Shoemaker was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, San Diego, where he utilized bisulfite-sequencing data to study human methylation patterns. He has authored scientific peer-reviewed articles on DNA methylation in Nature Biotechnology and Genome Research, and wrote a book chapter with Dr. Wei Wang in Wiley Interdiscip Rev Syst Biol Med.
Dr. Shoemaker has a Ph.D. and M.S. in chemistry, B.S. in biochemistry, and B.A. in German literature from the University of California, San Diego.
