Mr. Robert Hiett is the Deputy Executive Director for the Three Rivers Regional Commission, Governmental Services Division, and the Executive Director for WorkSource Three Rivers. Mr. Hiett is responsible for approximately 25 staff positions, and a total division budget that ranges from $9 million to $10 million per year. The Three Rivers Regional
Commission is a planning and development agency that serves area governments, delivers governmental programs and services, and works with public and private stakeholders to improve the lives of area citizens.
Mr. Robert Hiett has been innovative with his area workforce development program, and transformed its level of service delivery. Prior to his assignment as the workforce development director Mr. Hiett served on the workforce board for 10 years. The workforce program was rebranded as "WorkSource Three Rivers" in 2016, and the area has worked to improve its business development programs. During the last four years the workforce program has shifted its training focus from low wage jobs to higher wages paid in the manufacturing, medical, and logistics occupations.
Mr. Robert Hiett was also one of the first areas in Georgia to be funded by the Governor's High Demand Career Initiative (HDCI) grant, and he implemented a sector partnership strategy to support manufacturing employers. The sector partnership will expand into other areas in future years, and it will be supported by a regional technology platform. The technology platform will have a business analytics tool, a talent and job training component, and an area specific job board. The goal is to provide data relevant to the Three Rivers Region, and to support the continued development of a talent pipeline.
Mr. Robert Hiett has worked on several other high profile projects that involve broadband planning and coordination, coordinated regional transit, local government comprehensive plans, long range transportation plans, and several other initiatives.
