Robert Harris, Ph.D., is Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs and Vice President of Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK). Robert has extensive pharmaceutical industry experience, working on both small and large molecule development across multiple therapeutic areas. Robert joins from Amgen where he was Regulatory Affairs Therapeutic
Area Head in Nephrology after initially serving as a Global Regulatory Leader for multiple products.
Robert received his B.A. in Chemistry from Carleton College and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). He performed post-doctoral research in clinical pharmacology at UCSF before going on to work at the FDA in the Office of Clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmaceutics. After the FDA, he worked in the DMPK group at SmithKline Beecham. In addition to his work with Akero, Robert dedicates his time to teaching and presenting lectures at UCSF, Stanford and other universities.
