Robert has been involved in business development, strategy, venture finance and private equity. He has served in executive and board positions in post-secondary institutions, educational publishers and software companies. He has played important governance roles in those businesses and has built his reputation on an expertise of knowledge-based
businesses; demonstrating an the ability to attract outstanding executives, management teams and boards of directors. Robert Daugherty previously served as the CEO of the Jack Welch Management Institute, successfully incubating the school and merging it with Strayer Education. He has also served as President of Schiller International University with seven campuses in Europe and the U.S, and as CEO of Cognitive Arts, a leading provider of instructional design technology for colleges and universities. Earlier in his career he was a director of corporate venutres with General Electric.
Robert Daugherty has served as a principal, general partner and advisor to a number of funds and businesses focused on high growth and technology-based industries. Robert Daugherty has helped with the dissemination of new knowledge that arises from basic research at universities, ranging from traditional methods such as publication to licensing technology. He has extensive teaching experience with university students and corporate clients and has served on various panels at conferences and symposium on topics ranging from international higher education to venture capital investing. Robert Daugherty is currently serving a five-year term as a Fulbright Scholar Specialist, a program funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. He has degrees from Harvard, Cambridge, Columbia and an honorary degree from the American College of Switzerland.
