Dr. Roy is a physician and co-founder of Astute Technology, serving as the company's President. Dr. Roy's career combines a rare expertise in medicine and technology. During her career, Dr. Roy has used her technology expertise to build complex web applications, transform ideas into successful internet-based business models, and advise
and develop e-learning web applications and database driven marketing strategies for non-profits, associations and universities.
Prior to joining Astute Technology, Dr. Roy co-founded and served as President of Medical Consumer Media, an internet-based health care communications company. Dr. Roy received her medical degree from The George Washington University Medical Center where she also completed post-medical training in General Surgery. She has published over 20 articles on scientific and internet subjects and has been a frequent speaker at colleges, universities, medical centers, and associations. Dr. Roy has appeared in numerous TV and news programs including Discovery Health, National Public Radio, and The Washington Post.
She is a member of The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), The American Association of Physician Executives (AAPE), and The American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Roy concurrently holds an assistant research professorship in biochemistry and molecular biology at The George Washington University Medical Center. She has served on many boards including the World Congress on Information Technology, The Langley School Board of Trustees, The Children's Museum of Northern Virginia, the Community Advisory Board for the Junior League of Northern Virginia, and the Programs Board for Operation Smile.
