Richard Fishman has had an extensive and varied career in law, housing and economic development, and digital technologies, among other fields. He has served as Director of the American Bar Association’s National Housing Law Program and Executive Director of the ABA-sponsored Commission on Housing and Urban Growth. He founded one of the largest
housing finance law practices in the U.S., and served as Managing Partner of the Washington, D.C., office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.
In the 1990s he was president of Thinking Machines Corporation, a company that used parallel processing to build the world’s fasted supercomputers at the time. He has been sought out as advisor and investor to venture capital firms and has participated in seven IPOs. He has recently been exploring the creation of a venture capital fund that will invest in social businesses founded and operated by Ashoka (Innovators for the Public) Fellows.
