Dr. Ren Wu is the Founder and CEO of NovuMind, where he is leading the effort to push the frontier of artificial intelligence (AI) via high-performance and heterogeneous computing.
Dr. Wu is currently a distinguished scientist at Baidu's Institute of Deep Learning. Prior to joining Baidu, he served as the chief software architect of
Heterogeneous System Architecture (HSA) at AMD. Earlier, he was the senior scientist at HP Lab in USA and the principal researcher at HP Lab's CUDA Research Center. Dr. Wu is renowned for the pioneering idea of using GPUs to accelerate big data analytics as well as the outstanding contributions to large-scale clustering algorithms via GPU.
Dr. Wu is also known for his early work on artificial intelligence. His Xiangqi (Chinese chess) program was twice world champion and have dominated computer Xiangqi field for more than a decade. He was the first person to perform systematic research computationally on Xiangqi endgames with astonishing discoveries.
