René is responsible for Sensimed' clinical development.
He brings more than 21 years of experience in clinical development with emphasis on first in class therapeutic proteins for inflammatory disease, cardiovascular disease, CNS and cancer, including 8 years in the field of medical devices and cell-based technologies.
Prior to joining
Sensimed in 2011, he was active as an independent consultant at Shogu Consulting (founded by René), with focus on clinical product development strategy and implementation thereof in all its facets from late stage pre-clinical to launch for biotechnology and high-tech medical technology companies worldwide. In addition he consulted for two major VCs, and was an independent board of director member at Neovacs.
His extensive experience spans a wide range of leading positions with increasing worldwide responsibilities, from clinical research physician to vice-president clinical development for a variety of biotechnology companies. As such he worked in start-up and large companies, including Apoxis, Modex, Serono International, Eli Lilly and Centocor.
He completed his medical degree and was a resident in cardiopulmonary surgery at the University of Amsterdam. He has authored a variety of peer-reviewed publications and abstracts.
