Ray Lowrey was appointed chief information officer of McGraw-Hill Education in January 2013. He is responsible for leading all of the company’s Enterprise Applications groups, operations, and infrastructure technology organization in support of all McGraw-Hill Education’s businesses globally. In addition, he partners with the chief digital officer
to drive digital innovation in product creation and delivery.
Prior to joining McGraw-Hill Education, Mr. Lowrey was the chief technology officer at Archipelago Learning (now Edmentum, Inc.), responsible for the operation and enhancement of the company’s core product creation and delivery systems. He oversaw all decisions related to new products and services, including the definition and implementation of new features, identifying and integrating acquisitions, and establishing third-party partnerships.
Before Archipelago, he was chief technology officer of Cengage Learning, responsible for defining the company’s integrated business and technology strategy, as well as accelerating the migration of Cengage products and services to online platforms.
Earlier, Mr. Lowrey held senior technology positions at Thomson Learning Technology Services and at Gale, a Thomson reference and research publishing subsidiary.
Mr. Lowrey holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and an MBA from the University of Dayton.
